BRAC Transition
In the Dayton Region we are extremely proud of our defense installations – Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Springfield Air National Guard Base. The past, present, and future of our community is inextricably linked to our bases and those who work to support their missions.
The 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) brought many changes to defense installations across the country including Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. With the consolidation of Sensors and Human Effectiveness work at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB, the Dayton Region is positioning itself to maximize job growth and intellectual capital associated with these fields.
As military budgets continue to downsize and consolidate activities, the Coalition seeks opportunities to recruit for the Dayton Region. Upon BRAC closures in San Antonio, TX and Mesa, AZ, Coalition staff put forth tremendous effort to reach out to civilians and talk about the opportunities within the Region. As a result, 36% of civilians from San Antonio, TX and Mesa, AZ agreed to relocate to Dayton, despite the strong opportunities with other Department of Defense and research jobs in their respective cities.
For those who are considering a move to our community we welcome you to look around and see all that the Dayton Region has to offer. If there is something that you are looking for that cannot be found at the following links please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
