Community Details
Hunger is a complex issue that is directly related to and exacerbated by other factors of poverty such as a general lack of healthy food access, financial insecurity, instability in employment, transportation barriers, limited access to healthcare, lack of shelter, and more. Miami Valley Meals recognizes that feeding the hungry is not just about giving someone their next meal—it is about providing food as fuel to make progress and fostering connections to other key services to address the root causes of poverty.

MVM’s unique model of distributing meals via established community organizations means that our work can impact both the individual and the organizations serving them. By providing the organizations with free prepared meals, MVM is able to bolster their inventory, freeing up time and money to be utilized for other types of outreach. Providing their clients with prepared meals then opens the door for the organizations to connect individuals and families with other forms of assistance.

Emerge’s recovery pathways are focused areas of training that offer opportunities for sustained change and transformation.
