Historic Clayton Waterline
Clay Township, the City of Clayton, the Montgomery County TID, and the QuikTrip Corporation are engaged in a public/private economic development project to extend pubic water from US 40 in northern Montgomery County to a QuikTrip site adjacent to the I-70/SR 49 Interchange. The Historic Clayton Waterline Project will construct an additional 12" waterline from the new SR 49 waterline to a public park and historic neighborhood in the City of Clayton.

Community Details
The original Village of Clayton (current estimated population of 750), which is now incorporated in the City of Clayton, is not serviced with public water. Attempts over time to extend public water service to the Historic Clayton neighborhood have proven to be too expensive. A nearby project between Clay Township and the QuikTrip Corporation to extend a new public watermain from US 40 along State Route 49 to a site which QuikTrip plans to develop at the intersection of SR 49 and Interstate 70 affords a new more economical opportunity to the City. Clayton can connect a new waterline to the SR 49 watermain that can provide public water to a City park and Historic Clayton.
No Congressionally earmarked funds have previously been requested.
